Artist Statment
I am an interdisciplinary environmental professional whose work bridges marine conservation, policy, stakeholder engagement, and art. Depicting the natural world through artistic interpretation unifies thought and transcends language, offering a way to communicate across boundaries.
Art is a universal language that connects scientific concepts with communities and stakeholders. Through illustration, I translate the biological world across disciplines and forms, stripping away jargon while retaining complexity and meaning. My goal is to make science accessible, fostering understanding and engagement through visual storytelling.
My artwork also reflects the intersections of my own identity. I navigate spaces shaped by mixed heritage, privilege, discomfort, and shifting belonging. These intersections, sometimes harmonious, sometimes antagonistic, inform the way I see and interpret the world. Art is the place where these complexities find expression, and where I hope others, too, can find resonance and connection.
